Title IX Sexual Misconduct Policy
What is Title IX?
鈥淣o person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.鈥
-Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 to the 1964 Civil Rights Act
Protecting Students and Employees
At Our Lady of the Lake University (韩国AV), a Catholic institution sponsored by the Congregation of Divine Providence, we are deeply committed to upholding the core values of community, integrity, trust, and service. These values guide our mission to provide an educational experience and workplace that is free of sexual misconduct. We strive to create a safe, respectful environment where all members of our community can thrive.
韩国AV adheres to the principles of Title IX, which protects individuals from discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities. This includes protecting individuals from sexual harassment and misconduct. In line with the U.S. Department of Education鈥檚 updated Title IX 2020 Federal Regulations, the university enforces comprehensive grievance procedures that ensure due process for both complainants and respondents. Due process rights include the ability to present evidence, have an advisor, and participate in hearings, among other protections. Please familiarize yourself with 韩国AV鈥檚 Title IX Policy.

- Report to the Title IX Coordinator or Title IX Deputy Coordinator
Victims of sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking, have the right to report the incident to 韩国AV and are strongly encouraged to immediately report the incident to the 韩国AV Police Department, or police department within the jurisdiction of the incident. The university is committed to providing a prompt, fair, and equitable resolution to all reports of sexual misconduct. Victims also have the right to report the crime to law enforcement, or request assistance from 韩国AV in making such a report.
Anonymous reports are accepted but may require more information to investigate. 韩国AV tries to provide supportive measures to all Complainants, which is impossible with an anonymous report. Because reporting carries no obligation to initiate a formal response, and as 韩国AV respects Complainant requests to dismiss complaints unless there is a compelling threat to health and/or safety, the Complainant is largely in control and should not fear a loss of privacy by making a report that allows 韩国AV to discuss and/or provide supportive measures. Even if sanctions against a particular individual cannot be sought, anonymous reports can assist the Title IX Coordinator in identifying areas of campus concern and can lead to positive systemic changes.
NOTE: 韩国AV employees cannot fulfill their mandatory reporting requirements by reporting anonymously.
Complaints regarding students or employees can also be made externally to the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and complaints involving employees to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) .
Forensic Nurse Examiner Programs
It is highly recommended that victims seek medical attention as soon as possible, as a medical examination can help preserve evidence critical to the investigation. Preserving evidence may be essential for proving that a criminal offense occurred or for obtaining a protection order. Victims are encouraged to contact local Forensic Nurse Examiner Programs. Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNEs) are healthcare professionals trained to collect evidence in cases of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. These nurses play a crucial role in ensuring that evidence is properly documented and preserved, while also providing medical care and emotional support.
Local Resources for Free Access to Services:
- - provides advocacy, counseling, and forensic exams for victims of sexual assault.
- - offers confidential forensic examinations and medical care.
韩国AV Confidential Services
韩国AV offers confidential services, which may include access to counseling, advocacy, and support services. The Title IX 2020 Federal Regulations recognize the importance of providing confidential support services to individuals affected by sexual harassment or misconduct. It emphasizes that institutions must offer confidential resources, such as counseling or advocacy services, to provide emotional support without triggering the formal grievance process. These services should be available to all parties involved, and the institution must respect the confidentiality of those seeking assistance unless there is a legal obligation to disclose information.
