Gina Filoteo
Major: Psychology
Campus Activities and Achievements: Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program
Impact of AV: I transferred from Alamo Colleges to Our Lady of the Lake University with the ambition of furthering my education in psychology. During my first semester, I was fearful of failing and not fitting in because I did not begin my first two years at a four-year university. Thankfully, AV’s faculty, staff, and the McNair Scholars Program guided me and made feel a part of the community. Although this is the end of my undergraduate studies, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology:Pre-Counseling was one of my many goals. My determination to reach higher, along with the support of mi familia and mentors, have encouraged me to keep advancing in my education. This support has led to many opportunities such as research, internships, and relevant certifications.
An important life lesson: An important lesson that I learned through my journey at AV is to never self doubt
in my abilities because my accomplishments speak for themselves.”
Plans for the future: Through these experiences, my passion for psychology has blossomed and influenced
my decision to pursue a Master’s in School Psychology at Trinity University.
