Areas of Expertise

My area of expertise is in Clinical Mental Health Counseling - both as a clinician and educator. My areas of research include mental health and reproductive health, LGBTQ+ mental health, and perinatal mental health of pregnant and birthing people. From an instructional point of view my areas of expertise include clinical diagnosis, research, and multicultural counseling. 

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy seeks to enhance students' critical thinking abilities for practical application of counseling skills once in serving in the profession after graduation. The my teaching philosophy pull from heutagogy and constructivist approaches. 

Outside Interests

My interests outside the university include quality time with my family, the arts, gardening, and social justice involvement in local and national policies.
