Curriculum Vitae

Areas of Expertise

My research interests focus on the impact of exercise (acute and training) on compensatory eating behaviors. My past research has evaluated compensatory eating in response to high intensity interval and steady state exercise. Future research aims to evaluate the impacts of menstrual cycle phase and/or resistance training as it relates to metabolism and compensatory eating patterns. I teach Senior Seminar, Exercise Physiology, and Sports Nutrition.

Teaching Philosophy

I feel that interactive classrooms are best for student engagement and retention. I believe that consistent evaluation of pedagogical methods, and sometimes risk-taking, is necessary to meet the ever-changing needs of students’ expectations and learning styles. I strongly believe that communication, transparency and availability are essential to creating a student-mentor bond that supports students learning and enthusiasm for their futures. By creating enthusiastic learners now, we create professionals that will carry our missing to improve the health and wellbeing of others.

Outside Interests

My areas of interest out side of the university are to read, bake, spend time with friends and family, swim, watch football, and I like to travel.
